Trailmixy's Blog

{November 12, 2010}   November already?

I cannot believe that it is already November. My how time flies! Even more so when you’ve got a non-stop toddler on the loose and a thesis project hanging over your head.

So, it is November and this blog is clearly off to a slow start. The thesis has been quite the time sucker as of late, though it will certainly be worth it in the end.

November, with its cooler temperatures, lull between the start of the school year and the rush of the holidays always leaves me yearning for some solitude in which to contemplate my life, and the choices I’ve made. It also gets me thinking about all of the things in my life that God has blessed me with and how rarely I verbalize and display my gratitude, as I truly should.

While I am thankful for the simple and obvious things, like family, friends, and a job; I am currently thinking about the not-so-common things that we forget to be thankful for.

My Three for Thursday ‘Not-So-Common’ Things to be thankful for are:

  1. Family and friends that keep my email in-box filled with forwards and my voice mail and text in-box filled with ‘Call me when you get a sec.’s.  They mean that I am thought of and loved, whether I want it or not.
  2. The upcoming rat race, balancing act of squeezing all sides of the family in on the holidays. That means that we have loved ones who are still with usto see on those specials days.
  3. Those darn, never-ending bills (though hopefully Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University will help us to get them to slow down) because they mean that we have a house, electricity, running water, a furnace that keeps us warm, food to eat, and a whole lot more ‘stuff’ that many people could not even dream of having.

What are you thankful for today? What are your ‘Not-So-Common’ Things to be thankful for?
